So on January 1st Janice and I went for a photo-walk around Point Grey in Vancouver, and I snapped some pretty amazing pictures that I'd like to share!
Last night I went on a mission to take a couple very specific photos, one of which is of a very large tree at English Bay in Vancouver.
I've seen the photo taken before from another angle, and in Black & White and so I knew I needed to take a picture of a commonly photographed subject with my own unique touch.
This photo takes a couple of shooting styles that I've found are becoming my trademarks; Perspective and Depth of Field. The photo is also a night shot.
If you like it, please leave a comment! If not, then leave some criticism, I enjoy feedback of any type!

Sometimes history is worth recording and sharing for everyone, and other times, well other times not so much.
This so called "blog" has been nothing but a narrative of my life. If you were there when it happened you will keep that memory, but for everyone else they get nothing.
Nickdodd.com is now going to be a shameless self-promotion for all things that combine myself and my Canon DSLR.
After a successful official Launch event for Tensioncore Design Studio's first paid app, I'd like to officially announce the immediate availability of it in BlackBerry App World.
The app is call "The Periodical Toe", and it is a Highly-informative Table of Elements, with facts, history, discovery, common uses, and all of the most important scientific information on all of the 118 standard elements.
The app retails for $4.99 in BlackBerry App World, and is currently available exclusively on the BlackBerry PlayBook.
You can pick up your copy in App World from your PlayBook at the following link: http://tncr.ws/N4zj
This is the first of many Educational apps from Tensioncore Design Studios! Look out for more in the future.
So I wrote a Howto on the Blackberry Developer forums on Packaging up your Playbook app and Signing it from the Command line. You can find the original forum thread here: http://tncr.ws/AksY
1st step CMD cd into BB SDK directory (or have this dir in your PATH)
2nd step - copy CSJ files into \bin (I PUT ALL MY FILES TOGETHER FOR SAKE OF SHORTER COMMAND LINES)
This makes a file under (on my Win 7 computer) : C:\Users\Youraccount\AppData\Local\Research In Motion\barsigner.csk
< REGISTER WITH RIM >
Quote:
blackberry-signer -register -csjpin < Password (NOTE: LOWERCASE) from online Signed key registration > -cskpass < Password from CSK step > client-RDK-WHATEVERYOURNUMBERIS.csj
< MAKE CERTIFICATE >
Quote:
blackberry-keytool -genkeypair -keystore NAMEOFCERT.p12 -storepass < new-password-forthis-store > -dname "cn=< NAME OF YOUR COMPANY -must be the same in your app and your online vendor account >" -alias author
Please Note Also note that the option "-alias author" is not optional, this has to be part of your command exactly as it is in this example code....and not changed.
< Double signing - first step >
Quote:
blackberry-signer -verbose -cskpass < CSK PASSWORD FROM FIRST STEP > -keystore YOURCERT.p12 -storepass < YOUR STORE PASSWORD > < YOUR BAR FILE > RDK
< Double Signing - second Step >
Quote:
blackberry-signer -keystore YOURCERT.p12 -storepass < YOUR STORE PASSWORD > < YOUR RIM-SIGNED BAR FILE > author
PLEASE NOTE: you must copy these exactly except for where I TYPED IN CAPS AND PUT TRIANGLE BRACKETS - these you change to your hearts content, otherwise the rest of the commands NEED to be there, such as the word "author" and "RDK" etc...
I recently signed up for an Instructables Pro account and then I realized I wanted to mod my Stereo amp with PC fans to keep it cool and make it last longer since now I beat the hell out of it all the time because I use it for my music stuff...
Tensioncore Administration Services started just as a web hosting/game design company, and the legal business name was made as it is to allow for future possible business ventures/services.
As this year has un-folded, I've seen and had my business grow hundreds of percent over last year (2009 was my first full fiscal year), and I'm starting to mold what will be a company that lives up to it's legal name!
Project Bird Feed has been officially launched. It is still in "Beta" and it has been given a new brand: Tensioncore Web Services, a brand that will see a website develop into the ultimate URL services provider. tncr.ws
A prospective business partner has come to me regarding a new organization he wants assistance in developing (of which we've already named and branded), marking the way for Tensioncore Administration Services first official "Administration Service" and business partnership.
I've downsized them from their original sizes to hopefully speed up the gallery, however it may still be a little slow (because of huge pictures, or a slow connection to my server).
Yesterday marked our first (and very successful) formal business trip. The trip consisted of Tom (my business partner in Tensioncore Design Studios), Janice (girlfriend/contributor) and myself.
We did a day trip to Victoria, traveling via Pacific Coach lines from Downtown Vancouver to Downtown Victoria. The trip started at about 2am when we had to take a nightbus from New Westminster to Downtown Vancouver in order to be there for a 5:30am boarding.
The traveling portion of the trip consisted of the bus going to Tsawassen for the first ferry at 7am, then from Swartz Bay to Victoria by 9:30am.
The ferry was smooth sailing and we actually arrived in Victoria at 9:15am. After a detour to the mall for coffee we had officially started our day in Victoria!
The intention of the trip was to take photos for design reference, as well as to develop the main storyline/plot of the game.
Over lunch at the mall we essentially flushed out the entire storyline of the game including the 2 main characters (yes I said 2), including all of the major details of the game which will set ours apart from the competition.
By the end of our day the trip was hugely successful including me taking almost 600 photos, a tour of Parliament, all of our main characters main locations were idealized, and a few major points of the game had been established.
We took a personal detour around 4pm to Beacon Hill and the beautiful shoreline and some nice pictures.
By 5 we were very happy with our accomplishments and we decided to call the day 2 hours early and opt to take the 5:45pm Bus back to Vancouver instead of the 7:45pm.
